single-event-img-1

This project is implementing in Jhenidah sadar upazila under Jhenaidah district with the support of Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD). Most women's lives in the project area remained centered on their traditional roles, and they have limited access to markets, productive services, education, healthcare, and local government services. Male are the decision makers of the family because they are earning member. Literacy rate of Jhenaidah district is 48.4 %, of them male is 50.5% female is 46.3. Due to lack of access to decision making process the rural women and girls have been facing the various problems like child marriage; domestic violence, dowry, sexual harassment and eve teasing etc. The BBS report in 2015 says that 80.2% women are tortured by their husband (male). Women in Bangladesh, especially from the rural areas, are victims of violence, deprivation and exploitation. They cannot enjoy their democratic rights in their family as well as their society. Although working from dawn to dusk, they do not get the minimum required food to eat for health. They are socially and economically discriminated and unjust, with little access to public resources and services. Deprived of rights is one of the most important hindrances for the development of the women. They are remaining out of the mainstream of development. To ensure the development of women, their rights must be established first. Making them educated, conscious and aware of their democratic rights, and developed skills, their meaningful development can be ensured.
